Engineering first year

On behalf of the Engineering First Year (EFY) team, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Curtin University Malaysia and to the beginning of your engineering journey.

Congratulations on taking this important step towards becoming a future engineer. Engineering is a profession that challenges you to think critically, solve real-world problems, innovate, and make meaningful contributions to society. Your time in EFY will provide the essential foundation upon which you will build your knowledge, skills, and professional identity.

The first year of university can be both exciting and challenging. You will encounter new ways of learning, meet classmates from diverse backgrounds, and develop the independence and resilience expected of a university student. While there may be obstacles along the way, remember that every challenge is an opportunity to grow.

At EFY, our commitment extends beyond delivering quality education. We are dedicated to creating a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. Our lecturers and professional staff are here to guide, encourage, and support you throughout your academic journey. I encourage you to actively participate in your classes, ask questions, seek help when needed, and make the most of the many learning opportunities available.

Engineering is not simply about mastering technical knowledge—it is about developing curiosity, integrity, teamwork, communication, and lifelong learning. The habits and values you cultivate during your first year will continue to shape your success throughout your studies and your future career.
