CMTIP
Curtin Malaysia Teaching Innovation Project (CMTIP)
The CMTIP scheme is a seed fund aimed at encouraging academic staff at Curtin Malaysia to apply innovative approaches in teaching and learning. In particular, the fund intends to support academic staff to develop initiatives that improve learning and teaching practice, increase student engagement and enhance student learning experiences at Curtin Malaysia.
Approved projects are required to be submitted for ethics approval before the commencement of data gathering, if applicable. All CMTIP projects will run for a year. All CMTIP projects are supported by the applicants’ Head of Department, Associate Dean Learning and Teaching or equivalent, or Faculty Dean.
Approved projects will also be required to disseminate their outcomes through appropriate Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) or University Social Responsibility (USR) projects, where applicable. Otherwise, project outcomes may also be disseminated through journal or conference publications.

CMTS
Curtin Malaysia Teaching Support Fund (CMTS)
The Curtin Malaysia Teaching Support Fund (CMTS) is open for two rounds each year, aimed at projects that run through each semester or trimester.
The purpose of CMTS is to encourage academic staff to implement technologies, pedagogical techniques or other innovations which support their teaching activities, particularly in units with lower passing rates, or a high number of repeating students, or traditionally complex or difficult units. The CMTS is intended to support the learning and teaching of these units, so that students perform better, and/or have a better learning experience. The fund may be used for the academic staff’s innovation with new instructional techniques, create experiential learning opportunities such as site visits for the students, or the usage of technology (hardware/software) in their teaching activities in these units, among other purposes.

CMCE
Curtin Malaysia Community Engagement (CMCE)
The Curtin Malaysia Community Engagement (CMCE) is a fund to encourage academic staff to implement Community Engagement (CE) projects, and include community-engaged learning (CEL) in their classes.
Through this fund, academic staff may contribute to the community, by sharing their knowledge, expertise and experience; support efforts by various groups in working towards specific targets or causes; and enhance students’ learning through CEL in their learning activities.
Through engagement in the community, students undergo experiential learning and community-engaged scholarship, and engage with course content through collaborations with community. CE projects, and CEL involve a mutually-beneficial partnership by students, academics and the community to engage students with course concepts, and apply them in a way to benefit community members. Such a learning activity is experiential, community-engaged, reciprocal, and involves real-life application of course content. An active interchange of knowledge both to the community from the student, and to the student from the community is facilitated through CEL (Community-Engaged Learning, UVic Learn Anywhere, 2023).
Each CMCE project will run for the duration of one year. CMCE projects are supported by the applicants’ Head of Department, Associate Dean Learning and Teaching or equivalent, or Faculty Deans.
The fund recipients will be required to report on the outcomes of their CE project at the end of the year via a CMCE Concluding Report, and USR or KTP form. They will also be required to disseminate the outcomes of their proposed CE projects, via University or Faculty L&T seminars at a minimum, or organise workshops or forums if more appropriate, or publish their work in conferences or journals.

CMIP
Curtin Malaysia Innovation and Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (ISoLT) Project
(CMIP)
The Curtin Malaysia Innovation and Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (ISoLT) Project fund
(CMIP) was set up in 2024, alongside the inaugural iSoLT Hackathon, which was co-organised by
the Office of Learning and Teaching and Curtin Academy.
The objective of the CMIP is to provide opportunities for iSoLT projects that build capacity for all
academics, that are built on the Design Thinking framework. Through the CMIP’s support, these
iSoLT projects are also aimed at improving the student experience, as well as support the aims
and strategic plans of the university.
All CMIP projects run for the duration of one year. CMIP projects are conceptualised based on
the Design Thinking framework. Applicants will be required to pitch their projects, and also name
and work with a mentor during the duration of their project.
The next offering of the CMIP will be announced at a later date.
