Research and development
The Research & Development committee plays a vital role in advancing research excellence across all faculties. It fosters innovation, advises on funding opportunities, sets research priorities, and builds strategic partnerships. By evaluating and recommending new research directions and collaborative initiatives, the committee drives meaningful change for our people, our partners, and our planet.

Research clusters
Our research goes beyond traditional boundaries to address the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world. Our researchers are advancing knowledge that shapes industries, empowers communities, and supports sustainable futures through three key research clusters- digital economy, circular economy, and wellbeing.
Together, these clusters deliver research with real-world impact, informing businesses, governments, and communities while contributing to sustainable economic development and social progress across Malaysia, ASEAN, and beyond.

Digital economy
The Digital Economy Research Cluster drive innovation at the nexus of technology, business, and society. With expertise in digital marketing, e-commerce, AI, fintech, and sustainable finance, the cluster generates impactful insights that shape customer behaviour, transform industries, and guide digital transformation toward inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economic futures.

Circular economy
The Circular Economy Research Cluster drives transformative research on sustainable materials, circular supply chains, waste valorization, urban circularity, and renewable energy. By integrating eco-friendly technologies, AI-driven models, and life cycle assessments, the cluster delivers scalable solutions that strengthen environmental performance, community resilience, and industry competitiveness across Malaysia, ASEAN, and beyond.

Wellbeing
The Wellbeing Research Cluster focuses on enhancing individual and community wellbeing through research on social equity, mental health, workplace culture, inclusive development, and sustainable livelihoods. It promotes interdisciplinary inquiry to address systemic challenges and to create supportive, inclusive, and resilient environments for people to thrive.
Key researchers
Level 1 Supervisors are experienced researchers qualified to act as Principal Supervisors, leading the supervision of HDR candidates. Level 2 Supervisors may serve as Co-Supervisors, contributing specialist knowledge and collaborative support to enrich the candidate’s research journey. Together, they ensure high-quality supervision, mentorship, and impactful research outcomes.
Research events
The Faculty of Business is actively engaged in research-related events, regularly hosting conferences, seminars, and workshops that bring together academics, industry, and community to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, and foster impactful collaborations.
