Curtin Malaysia Student Exchange Program

Widen your horizon with Curtin Global Campuses and International Partner Universities

Semester and year-long exchange programs

Going on a semester or year-long is a great way to experience other cultures and add a unique edge to your Curtin degree. You will remain enrolled at Curtin for the duration of your exchange studies and you will also be enrolled in the host university overseas. You will pay tuition to Curtin, not the host university.

Check your eligibility

You can apply for a semester exchange program in the first semester of your first year of study.

To commence a semester exchange placement, you must be at least in the first semester of your second year (this can be negotiated if you wish to study at another Curtin campus).

To apply for a semester exchange program you must be able to meet the following requirements upon assessment of your application:

  • be enrolled in at least 100 credits;
  • be admitted in a coursework degree at a Curtin campus* (you can apply while on an approved Leave of Absence, but must be enrolled prior to departure);
  • have a course weighted average (CWA) of 60 or above in your current course of study (some partner universities may require a higher CWA);
  • have an academic status of ‘Good Standing’ with no academic misconduct (where a student’s academic status is changed to Conditional Status or deemed unsatisfactory in the academic period immediately prior to departure, participation will be subject to approval in consultation with the relevant course coordinator. The student will meet any expense incurred due to cancellation);
  • be able to maintain full-time enrolment and attendance at the partner university;
  • have completed an approved Study Plan Proposal form;
  • agree to abide by the semester exchange program Conditions of Participation;

If you don’t meet the eligibility requirements, your application may be assessed case-by-case based on circumstance and merit. Additional documentation, including an Academic Reference, may be requested to support your application.

Eligibility criteria for the OS Help Loan require you to have completed at least 200 credits in your course of study before you depart and at least 25 credits remaining on your Study Plan to complete post-exchange.
