Domestic student pass

All Malaysian Non-Sarawakian students must apply for the Student Pass through the Student Services Department (Student Pass Office) during Orientation Week. It is a requirement by Immigration Sarawak for Malaysian Non-Sarawakian students to apply for the Student Pass while studying in Sarawak.

New student pass application

Students must apply for the Passport (Dokumen Perjalanan Terhad or Malaysia International Passport) before applying for the new student pass.

The Student Pass must be applied through the Student Services Department (Student Pass Office) during the orientation week. Students need to provide the following documents and items for the new student pass application.

Student Pass Application Form (Borang IM.14-Pin.1/97) from Domestic Student Pass Counter.
Malaysia International Passport or Dokumen Perjalanan Terhad (Must be valid not less than 6 month)
Photocopy of Passport Detail (Malaysia International Passport – Passport Detail or Dokumen Perjalanan Terhad – Page 1+2+3+6)
Photocopy of Entry Details (either stamped in passport or white slip issued by Immigration Officer at the airport)
2 Passport size photo
Photocopy of Letter of Offer(First page)
Photocopy of latest results (Foundation – SPM result or equivalent, Degree – Foundation result or equivalent)
Photocopy of Malaysian Identity Card (front and back)

Important Reminder:

You must apply for your Student Pass no later than the Orientation Week.
If you are transferring from another institution in Sarawak and holding a valid Student Pass, please ensure that your current Student Pass with the previous institution is canceled before a new student pass to study at Curtin University, Malaysia can be issued.
Incomplete documents will result in delay or rejection by Miri Immigration Office.

Student pass renewal

It is a student’s responsibility to check the validity of your Student Pass including your passport to ensure that you are not overstaying in Sarawak. The Student Pass Office will assist you with the renewal process.

You are required to prepare the below documents for the renewal process:

Malaysia International Passport or Dokumen Perjalanan Terhad (Must be valid not less than 6 months)
Borang Imm.55-Pi9n.1/93 (Application for Extension of Visit Pass). Please print the form. It can be printed in black and white. (1 copy only)
Borang Format A (Format Tinggal Lebih Masa) / Overstay Form. Print this form only if your student pass has expired. It can be printed in black and white. (1 copy only)
Photocopy of Passport Detail (Malaysia International Passport – Passport Detail or Dokumen Perjalanan Terhad – Page 1+2+3+6)
Photocopy of Entry Details (either stamped in passport or white slip issued by Immigration Officer at the airport)
Old Passport (Only if you have renewed or applied for the new passport)
Photocopy of Letter of Offer (First page)
Photocopy of Result (From 1st semester until current semester/student can print it from Curtin Malaysia E-Student)

Important Reminder:

Please renew your Student pass the earliest 3 months before your student pass expiry date.
You must achieve satisfactory class attendance for your student pass to be approved for renewal by Immigration. Your attendance record will be submitted by the faculty officers to be submitted with your renewal application.
Students who renewed their student pass within 1 week of their flight departure date will be advised to go to the Immigration Office personally for further advice on the exit Sarawak procedure.
Student pass which expired for more than 3 months, you will not be able to renew your student pass. Students must apply for the New Student Pass Application. Students need to submit their new application together with Borang Format A (Format Tinggal Lebih Masa) / Overstay.
A student who wishes to change Major or Course must apply for a New Student Pass Application
If you would like to travel while your Student Pass is in the process of approval from Immigration, please submit us your flight itinerary at least 10 working days before the flight departure. This will help us to collect your passport on time before your flight departure.
Incomplete documents will result in delay or rejection by Miri Immigration Office.

Curtailment of domestic student pass

All Malaysian students holding a student pass under Curtin University Malaysia must curtail their student pass before they leave the university. It is applicable to categories as below:

Expiry date of Student Pass is more than 3 months upon leaving Curtin University, Malaysia
Students who are withdrawn/transfer to other institution/applying Leave of Absence (LOA)/ Graduated

You are required to prepare the below documents for the curtailment of student pass:

Passport
Photocopy of Flight itinerary
Photocopy of Malaysian Identity Card (IC)

Important Reminder:

Please submit your passport and flight itinerary 10 working days before departure for submission to Miri Immigration Office
