The application and the approval to study in Malaysia must be obtained before entering Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"notification notification--important small\" data-segment=\"dom\">\n    <span class=\"ico ico-info\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M16 2a14 14 0 1 0 14 14A14 14 0 0 0 16 2zm0 26a12 12 0 1 1 12-12 12 12 0 0 1-12 12z\"\/><path d=\"M15 15h2v6h-2z\"\/><circle cx=\"16\" cy=\"12\" r=\"1\"\/><\/svg><\/span><p>The Immigration Department of Malaysia issues and regulates the passes. Curtin University Malaysia does not have the authority to approve or reject your student pass application.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"notification notification--important small\" data-segment=\"dom\">\n    <span class=\"ico ico-info\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M16 2a14 14 0 1 0 14 14A14 14 0 0 0 16 2zm0 26a12 12 0 1 1 12-12 12 12 0 0 1-12 12z\"\/><path d=\"M15 15h2v6h-2z\"\/><circle cx=\"16\" cy=\"12\" r=\"1\"\/><\/svg><\/span><p>Electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL) and Single-Entry Visa (SEV) are not the Student Pass (Visa). Students are responsible for completing both the pre-arrival and post-arrival visa processes in a timely manner. All fees related to Visa Processing and Medical Examination is excluded from the tuition fees and should be fully borne by the students.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you arrive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an international student coming to study at the University for a full-time course, you must accept your offer and apply for a student pass before coming to Malaysia to start your course. Please refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my\/guidelines\/passport-photo-guidelines.html\">EMGS photo guidelines<\/a><\/li>\n<li>All pages of your passport(s), including blank pages, on single-sided A4 paper without enlargement or reduction. Centre each double page of the passport on the paper. A Special Pass may apply to you if your student pass has expired\/ will be expiring in 14 days.<\/p>\n<p>If you are in Malaysia and <strong>planning to return to your home country<\/strong> until you receive an eVAL before returning to Malaysia, please submit your passport to ISO for the cancellation of your student pass.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Changing course or major within Curtin Malaysia<\/td>\n<td>It is only allowed during your first year of study. International students need not leave Malaysia when applying for a student pass to reflect this new course.<\/p>\n<p>If you are applying for a change in course after your first year of study, you are required to exit Malaysia and apply for a student pass with the new course name while overseas.<\/p>\n<p>Explanation Letter of the reason for the change of course.<\/p>\n<p>Optional: Supporting documents from Head of Department and Dean of Faculty (if required by EMGS and Immigration Malaysia)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Dependant\/MM2H visa holder<\/td>\n<td>Student holding dependant MM2H pass (visa) are <strong>NOT<\/strong> allowed to study with this pass. You are required to cancel\/shorten your pass to apply for Student Pass before start of your course.<\/p>\n<p>Dependant visa holders can apply for their Student Pass from inside Malaysia.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n            <\/div>\n<\/div>                    <div class=\"accordion\">\n            <button class=\"accordion__heading accordion__toggle\" aria-controls=\"check-your-student-pass-application-status\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Check your student pass application status<span class=\"ico ico-chevron-fat ico--deep-blue\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M10.91 30.41l-2.82-2.82L19.67 16 8.09 4.41l2.82-2.82L25.33 16 10.91 30.41z\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content content\" id=\"check-your-student-pass-application-status\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>You may check the status of your student pass application after 14 working days upon submitting the complete documents to EMGS and payment to Curtin Malaysia. The application process can take up to six (6) to eight (8) weeks, so you are advised to submit your application as early as possible.<\/p>\n<p>After the Immigration Department of Malaysia approves your student pass application, you will be receiving an eVAL and you will receive an email notification from International Student Office. You may also download the softcopy of the eVAL from EMGS website.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n<\/div>                    <div class=\"accordion\">\n            <button class=\"accordion__heading accordion__toggle\" aria-controls=\"what-to-do-before-and-upon-arrival\" aria-expanded=\"false\">What to do before and upon arrival<span class=\"ico ico-chevron-fat ico--deep-blue\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M10.91 30.41l-2.82-2.82L19.67 16 8.09 4.41l2.82-2.82L25.33 16 10.91 30.41z\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content content\" id=\"what-to-do-before-and-upon-arrival\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Plan your travels to enter Malaysia at least one (1) month before your eVAL expires. When booking your flight ticket to Malaysia, please remember that international arrivals are only permitted at KLIA and KLIA 2.<\/p>\n<p>Please make sure you have settled your <a href=\"https:\/\/curtin.edu.my\/study\/campus-life\/accommodation\/\">accommodation<\/a> booking and filled up the airport pick-up <a href=\"https:\/\/curtin.edu.my\/student\/personal-support\/international\/airport-reception-booking\/\">form<\/a> at least five (5) working days before boarding the flight if you opt for an airport pick-up.<\/p>\n<p>Bring along the following documents before boarding your flight to Malaysia:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A valid passport<\/li>\n<li>Offer letter issued by Curtin University Malaysia<\/li>\n<li>Electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL)<\/li>\n<li>Single-Entry Visa (SEV)<\/li>\n<li>Sufficient funds to cover the cost of living<span style=\"font-size: 2rem;\"> in Malaysia for approximately twelve (12) weeks<\/span><\/li>\n<li>A valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate for those coming from or transited more than 12 hours through <a href=\"https:\/\/visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my\/media\/docs\/YFV_countries.pdf\">countries with risk of Yellow Fever transmission<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Important notes:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my\/guidelines\/sev-required-countries\">Check here<\/a> if your country is listed that requires a Single-Entry Visa (SEV) before entering Malaysia. If you require one, liaise with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kln.gov.my\/web\/guest\/malaysian-mission\">Malaysian diplomatic mission<\/a> closest to you for the length of time for processing of SEV.<\/li>\n<li>If the students fail to obtain SEV within 6 months from the date of the issuance of eVAL or expired, student are required to apply for a new visa application.<\/li>\n<li>Recently, Immigration Department of Malaysia has introduced <a style=\"font-size: 2rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my\/evisa\/evisa.jsp\">eVISA<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 2rem;\"> for some countries. This means you can apply visa via online. Please refer to nearest Malaysian Embassy\/High Commissions\/Consulate office to get more information.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Present all required documents as listed to the Immigration Department Counter at the airport and they will issue you with a <strong style=\"font-size: 2rem;\">Special Pass<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 2rem;\">. Note that the Special Pass is only valid between <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 2rem;\">14 to 30 days.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If you receive a <strong style=\"font-size: 2rem;\">Social Pass stamp<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 2rem;\">, please return to the Immigration Department Counter and request an amendment of the stamp. The Immigration Department of Malaysia will not issue you with a student pass sticker if a Social Pass stamp is issued.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n            <\/div>\n<\/div>                    <div class=\"accordion\">\n            <button class=\"accordion__heading accordion__toggle\" aria-controls=\"mandatory-medical-screening-student-pass-endorsement-and-opening-bank-account\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Mandatory medical screening, student pass endorsement and opening bank account<span class=\"ico ico-chevron-fat ico--deep-blue\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M10.91 30.41l-2.82-2.82L19.67 16 8.09 4.41l2.82-2.82L25.33 16 10.91 30.41z\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content content\" id=\"mandatory-medical-screening-student-pass-endorsement-and-opening-bank-account\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>You must report to the International Student Office on-campus on the next working day after arrival. You will receive further instructions on completing your post-arrival medical examination (health check) which must be completed within <strong>seven (7) days<\/strong> at an EMGS panel clinic.<\/p>\n<p>Any student fail in their post-medical will have to return back to their home country and the University will not be responsible for any cost incurred.<\/p>\n<p>This endorsement process by the Immigration Department of Malaysia takes between two (2) to four (4) weeks. Once your passport has been endorsed (with the issuance of a student pass sticker), ISO will contact you via email for collection.<\/p>\n<p>You are advised not to make any travel plans until your passport has been returned with your student pass endorsement sticker.<\/p>\n<p>You are only able to open a bank account once you have obtained the Student Pass endorsement sticker. The bank will process your application and this may take up to two (2) weeks. Once your application is successful, the bank will contact you to come in person to open the bank account. Please contact ISO for further details.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that banks may require your Student Pass (visa) to be valid for more than 6 months and requirements may differ from bank to bank.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n<\/div>            <\/div>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">During your studies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You must ensure that you have a valid student pass at all times and renew it on time to avoid needing to temporarily suspend your studies and return to your home country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is mandatory to submit your student pass renewal at least three (3) months before its expiry date. We advise you to set a reminder on your device to avoid missing this important deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n<section\n                class=\"block accordions\" role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n        \n\n    <div class=\"accordions__container\">\n                    <div class=\"accordion\">\n            <button class=\"accordion__heading accordion__toggle\" aria-controls=\"conditions-of-student-pass-renewal\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Conditions of student pass renewal<span class=\"ico ico-chevron-fat ico--deep-blue\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M10.91 30.41l-2.82-2.82L19.67 16 8.09 4.41l2.82-2.82L25.33 16 10.91 30.41z\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content content\" id=\"conditions-of-student-pass-renewal\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>You are advised to maintain satisfactory attendance and academic score throughout your studies as required by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Unsatisfactory levels of attendance and grades may adversely affect your overall attendance and results, which may in turn affect the renewal of Student Pass (Visa).<\/p>\n<p>As a condition of the renewal of your student pass, the Immigration Department of Malaysia has set the following requirements:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coursework<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Achieve a minimum academic score of CGPA 2.0 (CWA 50)<\/li>\n<li>Attain a minimum 80% attendance rate throughout the duration of their studies<\/li>\n<li>Course complete within the full-time course duration as approved by the Ministry of Higher Education<\/li>\n<li>Be in good standing as determined by Immigration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Research<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Demonstrate satisfactory course progress<\/li>\n<li>Attain satisfactory attendance throughout the duration of their studies<\/li>\n<li>Course complete within the full-time course duration as approved by the Ministry of Higher Education<\/li>\n<li>Be in good standing as determined by Immigration.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>*If you have not met any of the requirements listed above, you must submit an evidence, supporting letter from your Head of Department\/Dean of Faculty and an explanation letter for any medical or exceptional circumstances to support your renewal application.<\/p>\n<p>Non-compliance to the attendance requirement <strong>(Absence without valid reasons and uncontactable for 14 days)<\/strong> will result in:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Notification to the Police, Ministry of Education Malaysia and Immigration Department of Malaysia; and\/or<\/li>\n<li>Cancellation \/ Non-Renewal of your student pass resulting in your course discontinuation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>*If you are unable to engage in the teaching and learning activities, you must inform and submit the relevant documents (e.g. medical certificate from doctor, police report, flight ticket, etc.) to your Unit Lecturer\/Coordinator within 2 days of your absence from a scheduled teaching and learning activity.<\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n<\/div>                    <div class=\"accordion\">\n            <button class=\"accordion__heading accordion__toggle\" aria-controls=\"how-to-renew-your-student-pass\" aria-expanded=\"false\">How to renew your student pass<span class=\"ico ico-chevron-fat ico--deep-blue\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M10.91 30.41l-2.82-2.82L19.67 16 8.09 4.41l2.82-2.82L25.33 16 10.91 30.41z\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content content\" id=\"how-to-renew-your-student-pass\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Submit your passport to ISO and attach the following documents:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>A passport-sized colour photo with white background (3.5cm x 4.5cm)<\/li>\n<li>Academic eRecord (<a href=\"https:\/\/curtinmy-web.t1cloud.com\/T1SMDefault\/WebApps\/eStudent\/login.aspx\">downloadable from eStudent<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Course offer letter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Coursework:<\/strong> Evidence or supporting documents and an Explanation Letter for any medical or exceptional circumstances if you did not meet the renewal requirements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Research:<\/strong> Course progress report and supporting letter from Director, Curtin Malaysia Graduate School.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>*If renewing your Student Pass, your passport validity period must more than eighteen (18) months.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You will have to pay a fee to renew your student pass which includes the cost of your <a href=\"https:\/\/visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my\/guidelines\/insurance-new.html\">medical insurance<\/a>. The renewal process is estimated to take up to two (2) months and you are advised to plan your travel accordingly. A Special Pass may be applicable to you if your student pass has expired or will be expiring in 14 days.<\/p>\n<p><em>*Special Pass (which will cost you RM100) ensures you have a valid pass while your renewal application is being processed and is issued at the discretion of Immigration. <\/em><\/p>\n\n            <\/div>\n<\/div>                    <div class=\"accordion\">\n            <button class=\"accordion__heading accordion__toggle\" aria-controls=\"underload-and-leave-of-absence\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Underload and Leave of Absence<span class=\"ico ico-chevron-fat ico--deep-blue\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M10.91 30.41l-2.82-2.82L19.67 16 8.09 4.41l2.82-2.82L25.33 16 10.91 30.41z\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content content\" id=\"underload-and-leave-of-absence\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>If you are an international student enrolled at Curtin University Malaysia and holding a Malaysian student pass (visa), please read the following information carefully before applying for leave of absence or to reduce your study load.<\/p>\n<p><em>*You must complete your course within the full-time course duration if you&#8217;re on a student pass. The renewals beyond the full-time course duration is subject to the discretion of Immigration Department of Malaysia.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Underload<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>International students on a student pass (visa) are required to maintain full-time enrolment (100 credits per semester) to ensure their course is completed within the normal course duration. If you requiring a reduced <a href=\"https:\/\/curtin.edu.my\/student\/student-essentials\/enrolment\/enrolment-load\/\">study load<\/a>, you must seek approval to do so prior to amending your enrolment to ensure you are not breaching the conditions of your student pass (visa).<\/p>\n<p>To seek approval, you must submit application along with your supporting documentation, following the steps below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submitting a <a href=\"https:\/\/s43414.pcdn.co\/student\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/international-request-to-enrol-in-less-than-100-credits.pdf\">Request to enrol in less than 100 credits in the current semester form<\/a> to ISO prior to each enrolment period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leave of Absence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We understand that because of unforeseen circumstances, you may wish to take a break from study. As such you may be entitled to take leave of absence from your course.<\/p>\n<p>International students are entitled to only a maximum of one (1) semester of approved leave of\u00a0\u00a0 absence from their course. Should you be on leave of absence for any other circumstances, you must cancel your student pass (visa) and exit Malaysia during this period.<\/p>\n<p>*If you have cancelled your student pass (visa), you will need to re-apply for a new application (eVAL) before returning to Malaysia from your leave of absence. Failure to comply with this procedure will result in the University notifying the authorities: Police, Ministry of Higher Education, the respective Embassy\/High Commission and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
